About Mancetter Parish Council |
Mancetter Parish Council meets every two months on the fourth Tuesdays of January, March, May, July, September and November. Meetings are held in the New School Room adjacent to St. Peter's Church, Mancetter and commence at 7.00pm prompt.
The May meeting is the Annual Parish Meeting where Parishioners are able to attend and ask questions of the Parish Chairman. Other organisations within the Parish are invited to attend this meeting and report on their activities. At other Parish Council Meetings parishioners may attend and speak briefly during the Public Question Time section of the meeting. The public may, on very rare occasions, be excluded from part of the meeting whilst certain items on the agenda are discussed.
The Parish Council has some direct responsibilities and is also consulted regularly by North Warwickshire Borough Council and Warwickshire County Council about matters affecting the Parish that comes under their jurisdiction. Importantly, it acts as the voice of Parishioners with those councils and a number of other organisations over matters concerning the Parish.
The Parish Council is consulted by North Warwickshire Borough Council on a number of matters including all planning applications made within the Parish and the Parish Council is usually consulted on major planning applications in adjacent Parishes that could affect Mancetter Parish.
The Parish Council is consulted by Warwickshire County Council on a number of matters including highways and planning applications made within the Parish that come under the jurisdiction of the County Council.
The Parish Council has direct responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Cemetery and the maintenance of the Churchyard.
Through Mancetter Parish Paths Partnership the Parish Council has played a major role in ensuring the Rights of Way in the Parish (Footpaths and Bridleways) have been opened up and brought up to a good standard.
Although the Parish Council does not own or operate Mancetter Memorial Hall it does support the Memorial Hall Committee financially on occasions, including funding for major items such as the fencing around the front and sides of the Memorial Hall.
The Parish Council also funds some of the work at Ridge Lane Methodist Church so that the room can be used for the benefit of the community in general.
Parish Councils are obliged to have allotments available for Parishioners. In Mancetter Parish these are located in Ridge Lane.
The Parish council has several representatives on the Quarry Liasion Group.
The Parish Council is represented on the trust which administers and maintains the Almshouses.
The Parish Council is responsible for the bus shelters and benches.
There are eight Parish Councillors, including the Parish Council Chairman. Currently there are five from Mancetter and three from Ridge Lane. Contact with the Parish Council should be made via the Parish Clerk. |
