Mancetter Parish

Mancetter Parish Paths Partnership

Mancetter Parish has an agreement with Warwickshire County Council whereby the Parish Council receives an annual grant from the County Council to assist with keeping Rights of Way in the Parish clear of vegetation. The Parish Council also allocates additional funding for this work.

Mancetter Parish has, since 1998, considerably improved the Rights of Way in the parish. Mancetter is a "stiles free" parish. All paths either have footpath kissing gates, simple pedestrian gates or bridle gates. Yellow topped Signposts are installed at the roadside and where there is a change of direction along a path there are additional waymarker posts to indicate the route or to act as confirmation of the route. These are also yellow topped.

Mancetter Parish Paths Partnership Volunteers are continuing with a programme of refubishing the signposts and waymarker posts. They have, excepting a few minor issues, completed work on the area between Quarry Lane and Hartshill Hayes (Paths AE103 and AE104) and the area around Hill Farm and across Atherstone Golf Course, between Purley Chase Lane and Monks Park Lane (Paths AE109y and AE110y). The signposts and waymarker posts have been repainted and new style County Waymarkers havel been installed. In most instances where a path meets the road and at a junction of paths a Parish Paths plate indicating the Path Number and distances to destinations on the path can be found on the post.

The refurbishment programme for 2009 completed work on the paths between the Outwoods and Purley Chase Lane (AE96), between Purley Chase Lane and Oldbury Road (AE108 and permissive path over Jubilee Quarry). This year the refurbishment work has been completed on the Bridleway between Purley Chase Lane and Oldbury Road (AE109x) across Purley Chase Golf Course. The volunteers are currently working on one more path which, when complete, should conclude the work for the 2010 season. They hope to complete the remaining sections of paths requiring refurbishment during 2011.

Mancetter Parish and the surrounding area offers good walking, for more details see our Walking in Mancetter Parish page.

Mancetter Parish Paths Partnership has a small, but active, volunteer group which, as well as refurbishing waynarker posts, undertakes a variety of maintenance work on the Rights of Way in the Parish.

Public Footpath

Public Path Orders

Extinguishment of Public Footpath AE101 and the creation of a new Public Footpath, AE215. The background to this is that Public Footpath AE101 met the C12, Atherstone Road, at a dangerous location, on the abutment of Clock Hill Bridge, which is now traffic light controlled for safety. The order creates a new public footpath along the canal tow-path on the opposite side of the canal to Public Footpath AE101 and the new path continues under Clock Bridge, on to the track opposite Hartshill Wharf and as far a Apple Pie Lane in Hartshill Parish. Mancetter Parish Council supported these Public Path orders. Copies of the notice confirming the orders can be downloaded from this site. AE215/AE101 Order Confirmed (64kb) AE101 Order Confirmed (111kb) AE215 Order Confirmed (119kb)
